Dajia Translate

Privacy Policy

This English version is the governing version. If it conflicts with a translation, this version prevails.

Effective date: October 4, 2026 (last updated October 4, 2026, adding descriptions of accounts, cloud sync, AI and paid plans). This policy applies to the Dajia Translate browser extension and the fanyi.dajia.run website. The operator is an individual developer based in Canada.

Summary

You can use all of the local features without signing in, and in that case we collect none of your data. By default, your word book and settings are stored only in your own browser. Related data is sent to our servers only when you choose to sign in, turn on cloud sync or use Dajia AI, and you can turn these off or delete the data at any time.

1. Data stored on your device

This data is deleted when you uninstall the extension or clear your browser data. You can export or clear it at any time on the Settings page.

2. Translation and AI: what text leaves your device

Free translation engines: When you turn on full-page translation, subtitle translation or selection translation, the text being translated (web page paragraphs, subtitle lines, the words or phrases you select and the sentence they appear in) is sent by the extension directly to the translation service you have chosen: the Google Translate web interface, or DeepSeek with a key you configured yourself. These requests do not pass through our servers, and those services' own privacy policies apply to how they handle the text.

Dajia AI (after you sign in): When you use "Dajia AI" translation or AI analysis in the word card, the relevant text is first sent to our server, which forwards it to a third-party large language model service (Qwen from Alibaba Cloud Model Studio, falling back to DeepSeek when necessary) and returns the result to you. Our server does not store this text or the results. It records only the number of uses and the number of tokens you consumed that day, for quota and cost accounting. How the model providers handle request content is governed by their own terms.

The extension does not read your passwords, form input or email bodies: input fields and editable areas are skipped. You can turn translation off at any time, and once it is off no web page content is sent.

Dictionary files: The extension downloads dictionary files for your learning language from dict.dajia.run. These requests carry no account information or web page content.

3. Account (optional)

Signing in is optional and is used only for the Pro subscription, cloud sync and Dajia AI. We store your email address, the time your account was created, your subscription status and expiry date, and your sign-in session records. You sign in with an email verification code or with Google (we receive only your email address). Verification codes are held temporarily in hashed form and expire after 10 minutes; verification emails are sent through Resend.

4. Cloud sync (Pro, can be turned off at any time)

When a Pro member turns on cloud sync, your saved words and sentences (including the source sentence, source page address, status and timestamps) are transmitted in encrypted form and stored on our servers (Cloudflare) so that they can be synchronized across your devices. You can turn off cloud sync in the extension settings (nothing is uploaded after that), or click "Turn off sync and delete cloud data", and we will immediately delete all cloud sync records under your account; you can also delete them after your Pro subscription has expired. Your local word book is not affected.

5. Payments

Payments are processed by Paddle (the Merchant of Record, which is your counterparty for the transaction). Payment details such as bank cards and Alipay are provided only to Paddle, and we cannot see them. We receive only the subscription status, the customer's email address and the order number, which we use to activate Pro. Paddle's privacy policy applies to the data it processes.

6. Anonymous usage statistics (can be turned off)

This is on by default and can be turned off in Settings. When it is off, the extension sends no statistics requests at all. When it is on, only event names (such as "turned on full-page translation" or "saved a word") and how many times they occurred are sent. They contain no web page content, URLs or the words you save, and our servers do not store device identifiers or IP addresses; they only add up daily event counts.

7. What we do not do

The extension's use of user data obtained from the Chrome / Edge web stores complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

8. Data processors and storage locations

To provide the service, we use: Cloudflare (website, servers and database, on a global network), Resend (sending sign-in emails), Paddle (payments), and Alibaba Cloud Model Studio and DeepSeek (Dajia AI). Your data may be processed outside the country where you live. We provide them only with the data necessary to perform the corresponding function.

9. Your rights

You can at any time: export your local word book; turn off cloud sync and delete your cloud data; delete your account in the extension settings (we will delete your sync data and sign-in records; subscription billing records are retained by Paddle for tax and reconciliation purposes); and turn off anonymous statistics. To access, correct or delete any other data, email [email protected] and we will reply within 30 days.

10. Permissions explained

11. Children and changes

This service is not directed at children under 13. If this policy changes materially, we will notify you in the extension or on this page.
